Band Biography

Nexus Opera is an Italian power/heavy metal band formed in Rome in the early 2000s. The band stands out in the metal scene for its strong focus on historical storytelling, translating major battles, epic events, and real stories of heroism and sacrifice into music.

1. Origins and Early Years (2002–2004)

The project began between 2002 and 2003 in Rome on the initiative of guitarists Alessandro Pinna and Marco Giordanella, joined by keyboardist Gianfrancesco Araneo and lead vocalist Davide Aricò. United by a shared passion for classic power metal and major historical events, they took their first steps in the Roman underground scene before entering a hiatus.

2. Reunion and Debut: Tales from WWII (2012–2014)

In 2012, the band officially reunited, solidifying its line-up with the addition of drummer Alessandro Novelli and bassist Enrico Perciballi.

In 2014, they released their debut full-length album, "Tales from WWII" (via Spider Rock Promotion). The record is a conceptual work focused on key moments of World War II—ranging from the Battle of the Bulge to heroic frontline accounts. The album received strong acclaim from music critics for its balanced blend of incisive riffs, symphonic arrangements, and historically accurate lyrics written by frontman Davide Aricò.

3. Epic Growth: La Guera Granda (2015–2021)

In 2016, bassist Natale Cosenza joined the group. The band’s sound refined further, growing increasingly mature, complex, and epic.

In April 2021, Nexus Opera released their second full-length album, "La Guera Granda (The Great Call To Arms)" (via Revalve Records), preceded by singles such as Strafexpedition and Great Call to Arms. On this album, the band shifted its focus to World War I, capturing the harsh realities of Alpine trench warfare and the Italian front, cementing their reputation as one of the standout acts in the historical metal subgenre.

4. A New Chapter: The Ottoman-Venetian Wars (2022–Present)

In 2021, the group signed with Rock On Agency for live management. In 2023, the line-up expanded with the addition of female vocalist Loretta Venditti alongside Davide Aricò to enrich and power up the vocal arrangements.

Between 2025 and 2026, Nexus Opera initiated a major shift in their thematic narrative. While maintaining their signature epic sound and military-history focus, the band broadened its scope beyond the World Wars to explore the saga of the Ottoman-Venetian Wars.

This new phase unfolded through a series of key single releases:
